The second of FOCUS’ annual cross-campus conferences, Focal Point is always an amazing week of making friends, drinking tea, playing games, exploring the Bible, and growing in knowledge and love of God.
Focal Point 2016 is being held from the 11th to the 15th of July, in the final week of the ANU winter break, and three weeks before UC’s Semester 2 begins.
It’s five fantastic days full of fun, fellowship, and being challenged in your faith and understanding of God. It is an amazing opportunity to spend some time out of our busy lives to focus on God and get away from the grip of everyday life and routine. It’s an intense week of fun, fellowship, and fruitful time spent learning about God, how to read and understand his word, and how to know him better. It’s a great place to meet new people, build existing friendships, and take a week to think through deeper questions and issues with much more time than any other event or camp that FOCUS runs throughout the year. Whether you’re a committed Christian, new to your faith, or are checking the Christian message out and want to take aside a week to learn a lot, Focal Point is for you. Year 12’s are also most welcome, as are people from other campuses.
This year, we’ll be hearing from Peter Jensen on the topic of “Knowing God”. He’s the former Archbishop of Sydney, and an absolute wealth of knowledge, so come with your questions ready! We’ll have big group talks (sort of like our Public Meeting talks), smaller seminars, mini discussion groups, and times of personal reflection, all built around the idea of Knowing God. There’ll also be great food, ample free time, bush walks, sport, board games, table tennis, and even a bit of a bonfire to boot!
If it is your first time at Focal Point, there’s a newcomers’ price to encourage you to come along. If money is, however, an issue, please speak to your staff worker, as both subsidies and part-payment plans (that is, paying multiple instalments rather than forking $200+ all at once) are available if you need them. We’d hate nothing more than for money to be the thing that stops you coming to Focal Point!
